Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.15 Installation on Windows

PREFACE

Having an exclusive EBS instance environment for development and testing is definitely the most important assets for all Oracle EBS consultants. Without worrying of messing up the settings or making conflicting codes, or accidentally bringing down the entire instance by a silly mouse click, we just have the worst case of complete restoring the whole instance from backup and trying everything again. But you can do it in anytime, not bothering anyone except yourself.

The majority of Oracle EBS installation is on Linux, and I believe you can find a walkthrough of such installation from Google pretty easily. However, EBS does support Windows installation since 11i, but only a few companies really use it on Windows for production use. As a result, a thorough, up-to-date document about setting up the EBS in Windows from scratch is hard to find.

Ironically, I've been using Oracle EBS on Windows platform since 11i (around 2000, 11.5.1 under NT), then upgraded to 11.5.10.2, 12.1.3, and finally now 12.2.15, for my personally development use. Almost 25 years of journey and battle, I'm still seeing new issues from time to time, and need quite an effect to tame this beast.

Oracle EBS 12.2.0 released on 2013, and now 2025 upgraded to 12.2.15. It's almost time to come to the end since Oracle is pushing hard to everyone migrating to Fusion/cloud. I can expect that my memory of installing Oracle EBS will fade out very soon. So before losing any importance pieces, I make up my mine to put down a complete & working walkthrough of installing EBS 12.2.15 in Windows.

Note

  • The procedure shown in this document is probably not the best, but at least I can confirm that it works. I go through these steps multiple times and make sure all details are listed.

  • The whole installation takes time; it could take a couple days to reach the final destination. So, be patient and resilent.

  • Read the FAQ for more about this installation.
