About 10 years ago Oracle Fusion was released. As an Oracle EBS consultant, I want to keep myself up-to-date about the EBS technologies, so I always have a couple of private instance of Oracle EBS. For versions 11i, R12.1, and R12.2, I have both blank and Vision instances running in virtual machines. I tested all the upgrade from 11i to 12.1 then to 12.2 for these instances. Inevitably Fusion was my next milestone.
However, the hardware requirement to run Fusion was so demanding that, at that time, I didn't think it's wise to make an investment of buying a very powerful machine with a min. of 128gb of ram. Yes, in year 2015, a machine which was capable to have 128gb of ram could cost more than $5000, and the machine could be very massive and noisy that it would not be suitable for home server environment. Nevertheless, this task was always in my mind, and I believed I could do it in one day.
Fast forward to year 2025. After having some time off from work, I look around the job market and most of the Oracle ERP jobs are about Fusion. The word "Fusion" is old-fashioned now; it's called "Oracle Cloud Applications", probably add the word "AI" very soon. Moreover, Fusion Applications is no longer available on-perm since version 11.1.9 (at least what I can find), and it must be in the cloud. If you want to "try" it, you need to contact Oracle sales to spin-up a new instance, also signing some agreements and expecting never-ending sales calls from them.
Thanks to the technology advance that the hardware price drops substantially, now the hardware requirement becomes reachable. The idea of having a Fusion instance in my home server is coming again, and this time I know I should be able to get it done.
As it has been around for more than 10 years, someone should have done it before and posted the steps online somewhere. I found as much resources as possible, and as expected, document is written in more than 5 years ago, and the steps are outdated that they are not working for current 2025 technical environment.
After battling for 2 months, I finally able to come up a set of procedure and configuration that will let me to install the Fusion applications without major errors. I can spin up and shutdown the application, finish all the major tasks (e.g. setup Ledger, post journals, setup HR hierarchy, adding employees, etc). If I did something wrong, I could just rebuild the whole application from scratch (actually I did it many many times to get the steps error-free).

The configuration described here, I believe, is the simplest I can achieve. I try my best to make the steps clear and simple. I could miss putting down some minor steps since I did it so many times. So, if you find anything not working, feel free to raise an issue in this Github repo.
